Scholarships/Senior Info

2022 Seniors:

The best way to find scholarships, as well as prepare for your senior year, is to go to your www.okcollegestart.org account and on the home page there is a scholarship search page that you can create a profile for yourself. Also, www.scholarships.com is a great tool to use, as well as just google scholarships and you can find an enormous amount of different scholarships. The local scholarships will become available around February and there will be a page on this website to print them from, as well as pick up a paper copy in Mrs. Peddy’s room.

If you have any questions feel free to email me at rforeman@checotah.k12.ok.us or come in to my office and visit. Also, I know it might seem early, but you need to start applying for the college(s) that you plan to attend after graduation. You will need to apply for all of the scholarships they have to offer. Some of them will not be available until a later date, however it is important that you apply for these because they are usually renewable and will be available from year to year, unlike many of the other scholarships that are out there.

Last thing, you SHOULD be checking your school email daily for information from me. When college information or scholarships are emailed to me, I immediately forward them to the class of 2022 for you to determine whether or not it is a fit for you.

CHECKLIST FOR SENIOR YEAR:

-apply to college(s)

-Use your account at www.okcollegestart.org (this is what we use for the ICAP)

-apply for FAFSA, which will open on October 1 (We have been working on this in Mrs. Peddy’s room)

-start working on a resume (you will do one in Mrs. Peddy’s Senior English class)

-start asking people to write you a letter of recommendation. You will need at least 3. Ask your teachers, coaches, sponsors of any organizations that you are involved in, preacher or youth minister, and boss.

Remember, it is NEVER too early to start planning for your future!!!
